Dr. Cooley is now certified in Small Animal Veterinary Medical Manipulation!

September 24, 2021

We are excited to share that our own Dr. Cooley recently earned her certification in Small Animal Veterinary Medical Manipulation (SAVMM) through the Integrative Veterinary Medical Institute!

SAVMM is commonly used to help pets suffering from:

  • Chronic ear infections
  • Orthopedic or soft tissue injuries
  • Intervertebral disc disease
  • Trauma, falls, or accidents
  • Agility, dock diving, and other sporting dog athletics.

We are so proud of Dr. Cooley and excited that we can now offer these services to all clients.

Dr. Cooley is also certified in general animal acupuncture. She was inspired to start these certifications after seeing results of acupuncture on her horse. As her horse aged, he developed recurring lameness. Despite joint injections, corrective shoeing, and medication, he was still having issues. She decided to work with a certified acupuncturist to assist. The horse responded beautifully.

Based on her horse's experience, Dr. Cooley found a strong passion and interest in acupuncture in animals. This inspired her to start her certification journey and desire to share the benefits of acupuncture in animals. Acupuncture can be used for numerous and practically endless reasons:

  • IVDD
  • Traumas and injuries
  • Fear, anxiety, and other behavioral issues
  • Endocrine disorders
  • Soft tissue injuries
  • Fractures
  • Wounds
  • Organ diseases (asthma, bronchitis, heart disease, urinary and/or fecal incontinence, diarrhea, kidney disease, liver disease, eye issues, ear issues)

It has also been discovered that in some diseases, acupuncture is meant to help rebalance the body. It will not directly correct the issue, but will help the body rebalance as you use traditional medications and diagnostics to treat the pet as well. The benefits of acupuncture are endless which is why we believe its practice is beneficial for all pets and offer these services to clients.

Dr. Cooley is a strong asset to our hospital. In addition to her general patients, she also performs exams and services on exotics - specifically pocket pets and reptiles - and practices Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine.
