Dr. Desiree Cooley - Veterinarian

Dr. Desiree Cooley joined the Standifer's Animal Clinic veterinary team in 2019.

A native of upstate South Carolina, Dr. Cooley graduated from Clemson University and Mississippi State College of Veterinary Medicine before moving to Birmingham.

With an interest in adjunctive holistic therapies as a complement to traditional veterinary medicine, Dr. Cooley attended the Chi Institute while in veterinary school to attain an animal acupuncture certification and is a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist (CVA). She also utilizes herbal and food recommendations to better help patients in a holistic manner in addition to traditional medical therapies. Beyond caring for dogs and cats, Dr. Cooley welcomes pocket pets and some exotic pets as patients including lizards, turtles, gerbils, hamsters, hedgehogs, guinea pigs, ferrets, and rabbits.

Outside the veterinary hospital, she enjoys hiking, sports, and spending time with her babies – a dog, Macho Latte, and two cats – Mable and Evoli. She is excited to be a part of a hospital that has seen generations of families and become a part of the team to be the partner in their pet’s health.
